Om Anna
I have a Bachelor of Music degree from King’s College London and have received high-class cello and singing tuition from the Royal Academy of Music in London as part of this.
I took Advanced Performance in Musical Theatre as part of my degree and prior to this received my Diploma in Musical Theatre Performance from the London College of Music in my final year of high school. As a native English speaker (with a Northern Irish accent), I also believe I am especially well-equipped to teach students the fundamentals of pronunciation, vocal placement and accent reduction for singing in English.
As a cellist, my previous repertoire includes the likes of Rachmaninoff , Beethoven and Schumann. I have played as part of orchestras, wedding quartets and received advanced grades in the instrument.
I have been teaching private music lessons for more than three years and have guided students through exams (with most achieving A+ grades) and general self-improvement. I have also taught acting as part of a respected drama school outside London for the past two years, equipping 10 – 18 years olds with the communication and performance skills necessary to succeed in the arts and achieve high grades in LAMDA exams.
I have experience teaching both online and in person and am happy to work with pupils to find a teaching regime that works best for them.
Lessons in singing
I teach singing to performers of all ages and abilities – from beginner to advanced levels. Singing tuition includes:
- Breathing and projection techniques
- Pronunciation and articulation
- Vocal placement and range work
- Acting through song and emotional communication
- Posture and physical stress management
- Sheet music reading (if desired)
- Dynamic interpretation
- Informed historical performance techniques
I have taught students to prepare for performance, for personal enjoyment and to help them improve their confidence. My pupils have ranged in age from six years to eighteen years.
Lessons in cello
I teach cello students of all ages from beginner to intermediate level (UK grade 6).
Lessons include instruction in:
- Practical technique
- Bow control
- Pitch and tone control
- Posture improvement
